The exclusive vineyard of Aegean: Slow Travel destination -Patoinos - Terre de l'Apocalypse
The bio-dynamic vineyard of Patmos island
The Patoinos- Terre de l’Apocalypse vineyard is an initiative that preserves the Greek wine heritage and the revival of Greek viticulture in Patmos island, in Southeastern Aegean.
Josef Zisyadis is the director and co-founder of Patoinos vineyard. Together with a Swiss commission and four winemakers from Vaud in Switzerland started up this unique initiative in 2011 by planting the very first vineyard of the island!
Patoinos – Terre de l’Apocalypse consists of a bio-dynamic vineyard of two hectares, where wine grapes grow such as white grapes and Assyrtiko and red grapes with regional character.

The Slow Food experience
Patoinos vineyard produces wine and olive oil, natural soaps, dried herbs, and laurel oil.
The winery facilities, storage cellars, and premises for the harvest are to be found at the North of the island, in Vagia pebble beach.
In the southern part of the island, in the green valley around Petra gulf, a Wine House and its tasting cellar, a reception room for visitors, and an old oil press are welcoming locals and travellers to taste the Apocalypse Domain wines accompanied by local products (cheese, bread, vegetables), and enjoy Slow Food experiences.

Patoinos Experiential Workshops
Patoinos winery is cooperating with Peliti group, a Greek association with a mission to collect and protect traditional varieties of seeds, 20 years now.
Together they organise eco-awareness and seed-exchanging meetings in Patoinos premises open to the public, all year round.
In Patoinos, various eco-conscious workshops are taking place, where visitors and students have the chance to discover composting and permaculture agricultural methods, promoting the protection of nature and biodiversity.
