Located just a 15-minute walk from Milies, Toumba Eco Farm sits atop a hill, named after its land’s morphology (Toumba means “hill”).
In the mid-90s, Kostas Moukas envisioned the creation of Toumba Eco Farm and the regeneration of the Plomari mountainous areas, where he spent his childhood summers. Initially, he dedicated years to caring for the land, which was recovering from a major fire. He later co-founded an association focused on preserving the abandoned villages in the Plomari region.
Over the years, Kostas discovered a natural spring on the land, which boosted the fertility of the soil. Fruit trees were planted, vegetable gardens were established, and life began to flourish.
At the top of the hill, Kostas dreamt of creating a shelter, a welcoming place for visitors to explore hiking trails and appreciate the natural environment.
Meanwhile, he started breeding the nearly extinct regional mountain horse, Mydilis. These small horses are native to the Plomari area and are known for their unique walking gait.

Toumba Eco Farm covers 3,300 square meters of natural beauty. After 12 years of hard work, in 2008, Kostas’ dream was realized, and the five traditional guesthouses of Toumba Eco Farm were completed, welcoming their first guests.
Since then, Toumba Eco Farm has provided exceptional accommodations and hospitality, always honoring the local culture and natural environment. The farm offers stunning panoramic views of valleys, the Aegean Sea, and the nearby islands of Chios and Psara, as well as the surrounding mountains. This breathtaking view can be enjoyed from all five guesthouses, which are designed to offer privacy and autonomy.

Where Tradition Meets Green Autonomy
Each guesthouse spans 40 square meters, comfortably sleeping 2 to 4 people. They are fully equipped with hot water, central heating, a fireplace, a ceiling fan, and a kitchen. Sustainable energy is sourced from solar and wind generators, providing electricity and heating year-round.

The bright, cozy rooms feature wooden furniture, a double bed or twin beds, a sofa bed, a private bathroom with a shower, and a veranda to take in the beautiful surroundings.

To reach Toumba Eco Farm, head towards Milies, a village in the Plomari region of Lesvos, Greece. From Plomari, follow the scenic mountain road towards Milies, enjoying breathtaking views along the way. Once in Milies, a short 15-minute walk or drive will bring you to the farm, perched on a hilltop overlooking the Aegean Sea. If arriving from Mytilene, the island’s capital, the drive takes approximately 1.5 hours. For those without a car, taxis and local transportation options are available. Toumba Eco Farm is well worth the journey, offering a peaceful retreat immersed in nature.
