A Bee Day at the hillsides of Holomontas

An autumn day at the hillsides of Holomontas mountain, I found myself at Taxiarxis forest, in the centre of Chalkidiki.

The area presents a great diversity of flora and fauna and is protected by Natura European Network.

Among walnuts, pines, wild mushrooms, and beeches, I saw fixed comb hives, and I had the chance to meet and talk with Passion Honey family, the beekeepers located in Taxiarhis forest, at Holomontas mountain.

A family of Beekeepers

Athina, Vasilis, Vicky, and Dimitris, are since 2014 active in traditional beekeeping in the area of Holomontas mountain, in Chalkidiki.

Their beekeeping journey started in 2014, and their motivation was strong because of the multiple health problems a member of their family had to face.

Back then, they aimed to find natural solutions, and methods in order to regain their mental & physical health.

Their in-depth learning of the beekeeping philosophy helped them to gain health and mental wealth.

Vicky and Dimitris are certified beekeepers and the creative minds behind Passion Forest Honey natural Bee products.

Passion Forest Honey Chalkidiki

Traditional beekeeping & organic honey

Athina and Vasilis chose consciously to use a traditional method of beekeeping which allows the bees to build strong connections with their colonies and to the environment.

In practice, this method often requires the static placement of fixed comb hives in a specific natural area only.

In this case, Passion Honey family places their hives in the area of Holomontas.

This natural beekeeping approach allows them to collect raw organic honey, which is the basis of all the natural products their company ‘’Passion Forest Honey’’ promotes.
